Following the successful collaboration with Taheel Technology, in 2015 Weiss Technik UK were selected to provide a new Sports Science Room for King Saud University (KSU). With the installation completed in April this year, KSU and Taheel Technology co-hosted the “Role of Exercise Physiology in Athletic Achievement and Public Health” symposium at the Department of Exercise Physiology at King Saud University. The symposium was held over two days, allowing Weiss Technik UK to showcase the Sports Science Room (SSR) functionality and hypoxic capabilities in conjunction the topics of the symposium.
Mr Frank Bromley was in attendance for Weiss Technik UK to give several presentations over the two day event. Amongst the attendees were the University Rector, an Emir of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, influential visitors from various universities across the country, and key figures from the Army of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Arabia Special Forces and Security Police. The Weiss SSR was in operation during the symposium, allowing the attendees to see the room’s operating software, controls and experience minus temperatures within the room itself.
The completion of the new Weiss Sports Science Room greatly enhances the research capabilities at KSU. The room itself has a volume of 108m3, it is temperature and humidity controlled and also features hypoxic control to simulate altitude. The room operates from -40°C to +50°C, with relative humidity from 15% to 90% and the hypoxic control 12% to 20.9% oxygen content, simulating altitude from sea level to 4500m.
King Saud University, the premier institution of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was established in 1957 to enhance the nation’s growth and well being. Since then, through strong government support and many highly qualified professionals, KSU has been a source of skilled professionals and academics needed to meet the nation’s growing needs in the areas of medicine, engineering, agriculture, science and development, the humanities and language.
Weiss Technik would like to wish King Saud University all the best with their new facility.
